Yes I have to agree - the woman in that picture just does not seem to be big enough in height or build to be Elfriede Fischer. Still it would be interesting however - to discover who it is?

Another faded old photo from Max Rusid's "Sideshow", including the Shields Brothers, surely some of the least impressive of "giants".

They certainly are some of the least impressive 'giants. The guy on the left only looks about 3 or 4 inches shorter. That's probably why he had to stand a bit to the side. The Shields brothers had to be included in the 'too short' section because they are so famous, and some people do think they were all close to 8 feet. They are just tall men.

By the way, I suspect the "moss-haired" girl in the front row, with the snake, is the lady who was photographed with "Captain" Ureck as his wife (which she probably wasn't).

Welcome mask! Nice to see your incomparable self on these boards. You are the unquestioned master of discovering new giants and new photos of giants. Love your work. In my opinion, your two greatest recent contributions were the British Pathe page (If you haven't seen it - here's a thread where I tried to organize all the videos) and that Italian page that had video of Vaino, Nashnush, and Contat (wasn't there another video here as well?)

On this board in addition to the posting of new images - I hope we get you to weigh in on our frequent discussions, estimations of height, and general arguments!

Found a book from 1908 in Google Books - Was over 1000 pages long, but had an article on Human Skyscrapers. I'll send the whole PDF article to TTM. Good Reasoned reading. But here was the real find--- Awesome Scans of Fantastic Pics I'd never seen of some turn of the century giants.
Good enough quality to read their expressions and get a sense of the people. Just fantastic.

Here's the first one:
